ICT Exhibition
IT Directorate is one of unit in BINUS Group held ICT EXHIBITION 2008 on September 15 – 25, at Food Court Anggrek Campus BINUS UNIVERSITY. ICT Exhibition 2008 is part of BINUS Expo 2008 that held by BINA NUSANTARA Group with a theme “Get The Most Exciting Experience”. In line with BINUS 20/20 vision : “A World-class Knowledge Institution… in continuous pursuit of innovation and enterprise”…, it also have a number of program, such as Bee Lifestyle, Grand Launching New Anggrek Campus and ”Journey of Life” Campaign.
In his growth, BINUS UNIVERSITY develop the education strategy by using study of long distance through the media we call BINUS Maya. With BINUS Maya, students not necessarily come to campus to do the school activity. Along with usage BINUS Maya in course of learning and teaching, BINUS UNIVERSITY also provides hotspot in campus. To assist this process, requirement hardware will progressively mount. Therefore, IT Directorate invites vendor and supplier information technology and communications to participate in this event by presenting the newest and recent product. The vendor and supplier from information technology are ACER, ASTRINDO (BYON), IBOX (Macintosh), and AXIOO. The Vendor and supplier from communications are BIZNET, INDOSAT and LG MOBILE. The other Vendor is HOME COMPUTER provides a loan for students and lecturer who want buy a notebook.  IT Directorate presenting the newest application for the student like Bee Messenger and Bee Tube Version 2.

Saat ini BINUSIAN sudah mendapatkan kemudahan dalam menyaksikan acara televisi melalui internet (IP-TV). Fasilitas ini diberi nama Bee-Watch yang dapat diakses melalui alamat www.binus-access.com/bee-watch. Dengan launchingnya fasilitas ini membuat gaya hidup BINUSIAN semakin lengkap. Pada acara peliputan wafatnya mantan Presiden ke 2 RI Bapak H. M. Soeharto, Bee-Watch telah dinikmati sebanyak 200 koneksi secara bersamaan melalui network OIX (40 MB). Fasilitas ini juga telah membantu DIKTI menyiarkan acara video conference antara DIKTI dengan perguruan tinggi yang terhubung dengan INHERENT di seluruh Indonesia dan Universitas Canberra, Australia.

Mulai hari Senin, 28 Januari 2008, jaringan BINUS sudah terinterkoneksi dengan jaringan INHERENT sehingga untuk akses ke alamat perguruan tinggi yang terhubung dengan jaringan INHERENT akan sangat cepat. Dengan berhasilnya interkoneksi ini, BINUSIAN dapat melakukan video conference dengan perguruan tinggi yang tergabung dalam jaringan INHERENT ini. Selain itu manfaat lain yang ada adalah mempermudah terjadinya pertukaran konten pembelajaran antar perguruan tinggi tadi.

Selain Bee-Watch, fasilitas lain yang telah diluncurkan oleh BINUS untuk mendukung gaya hidup BINUSIAN adalah Bee-Phone. Fasilitas ini memungkinkan para BINUSIAN dapat saling berkomunikasi melalui internet dengan gratis (biaya yang ada adalah biaya akses internet). IT Directorate will present ICT Exhibition and Seminars in Anggrek Campus at 11-12 September 2007. The ICT Exhibition will involve major vendors such as : Acer, Asus (Astrindo Senayasa), Dell, Toshiba, Apple (eStore), and Indosat. For the seminars event, the IT Directorate will invite Microsoft (with topic about Unified Communication) and Oracle (with topic about Enterprise Resource Planning).

For supporting services from IT Directorate to the public community and all BINUS Group, for now IT Directorate already equipped with data center room. This data center have 60 m2 area, that can hold until 18 server rack, with total server that can operated in this data center until +/- 200 server.

BINUS SCHOOL Serpong already implements Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) for BINUS Card for students, lecturer and staff. This devices is used for attendance, borrowing books and for the future it will be use for e-Wallet. Near in the future all devices will be implemented to all school and campuses in BINUS Group for supporting digital campus.

On 27 April 2007, BINA NUSANTARA CEO, Ir. Bernard Gunawan signed the Memory of Understanding with some ICT vendors, accompany with BINA NUSANTARA CIO. These ICT Vendors are Acer Indonesia, Astrindo Senayasa (Asus), and DELL Indonesia, that will be providing computer hardware (PC and notebook). Cooperation with Indosat in this matter is for providing 3.5 G Internet access, and with Oracle Indonesia for providing Oracle curriculum into BINUS UNIVERSITY. On 31 July 2007, BINUS also signed agreement with Aneka Infokom Tekindo for providing Toshiba computer for supporting the BINUSIAN Life Style.
